About the Flu Vaccine
The HSE provides free flu vaccination to eligible groups. These include people aged 60 and older, children aged 2 to 17, pregnant women, healthcare workers, carers and people with certain health conditions. Eligibility can change, so our pharmacy team will confirm this when you book.
Protection reduces over time and the circulating flu strains can change from year to year. Annual vaccination provides the best available protection for the current flu season.
Flu vaccines have a well established safety record. Most reactions are mild and short lived. Our pharmacist will check that the vaccine is suitable for you before vaccination and will answer any questions you may have.
You may be asked to remain in the pharmacy for a short observation period. With your consent, details of your vaccination can be shared with your GP so your medical record is kept up to date.
